Bicycle Networks – Swapping Seats

The ‘Swapping Seats’ intitative by Bicycle Network sets out to raise awareness about how people walking and riding should position themselves around trucks and heavy vehicles.

The blind spots of heavy vechicles and trucks block out a lot more of the road than people who ride bikes realise.

As part of Bicycle Network’s ‘Swapping Seats’ campaign bike riders at Around the Bay were invited to sit in the drivers seat of a truck, to get an understanding of which parts of the road and road users a truck driver can see (the video below).

Bicycle Network has a full write-up including suggestions on how to be seen by large vehicles or trucks, which can be read at the link, https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/our-campaigns/swapping-seats/.
