Hurstbridge via Plenty Rd and Arthurs Ck Ride

Full Ride

Head NORTH on Plenty Rd from the starting point at University Hill (opposite La Salita’s). Continue through South Morang and Mernda to the Arthurs Ck turn-off (RIGHT hand turn – caution required with Plenty Rd traffic).
Continue on Arthurs Creek Rd to the climbs past Yan Yean Reservoir, Arthurs Creek township and the real country road through Nutfield and enter Hurstbridge via the bridge (no passing traffic allowed) and on to the roundabout in the main street (Main Rd).

There are many options for coffee and a snack in Hurstbridge but a favourite is the Post Office Cafe which is in the middle of the town on the LEFT hand side at the pedestrian crossing after turning RIGHT at the roundabout. The Post Office cafe has a large area at the back to cater for a group of cyclists and their bikes.

The return is back the same way for the long ride option..

Shorter Ride

For a shorter ride with slightly less hills, when heading back from Hurstbridge make a LEFT turn into Doctors Gully Rd (slightly concealed on a RIGHT hand bend) just before Nutfield. To stay on Doctors Gully Rd you need to take the next RIGHT turn at the T-intersection. Follow this road to Doreen where you take a RIGHT into Yan Yean Rd. (The continuation of Doctors Gully Rd after Doreen is Bridge Inn Rd which will take you straight back to Plenty Rd but is currently not very cycle friendly.)

Once on Yan Yean Rd take the first LEFT at Cookes Rd to head into the Laurimar Estate and then RIGHT at the second roundabout to Painted Hills Rd. Continue on through the Laurimar wetlands until you get to Hazel Glen Dve where you turn LEFT to head back to Plenty Rd. Turn LEFT onto Plenty Rd and back to the start point.
