Northern Region Cycling Strategy

A new regional trails strategy for Melbourne’s north was Launched at Federation square last week, with more than 780km of off-road trails to be built, upgraded and linked.

Victorian Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events the Hon. John Eren MP unveiled the plans for the Northern Regional Trails Network (NRTN) which includes 120 existing trails and 96 proposed trails and will link attractions including Montsalvat, Organ Pipes National Park, La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary and the Heidelberg Artist Trail.

Funded and developed by seven of Melbourne’s major northern municipalities including (Banyule, Whittlesea, Darebin, Morland, Hume, Yarra and Nillumbik), the Northern Regional Trails Strategy provides a blueprint and strategic framework for the future development and maintenance of a recreational offroad trail network in Melbourne’s north.
